Defeating Your Demons

When everything felt as though it was falling apart, she began to give up on herself. She no longer felt that happiness was an option for her. She was so split inside that she did not know how to fathom the idea of being happy. She had dreams at one point, but those dreams were significantly defeated by demons. She felt as though life was granting her this new dark corner to run away and hide to, only to never come back. She did not know how to come back from this. She wanted to run away, so far away that no one could chase her and bring her back. She was ready to go until she finally discovered new happiness that was brewing within her. She woke up and realized that these demons that had been tearing her apart were only in her head, and they only wanted to see her fall to the ground. If she fell, they would have won. They would have captured her happiness, and they would never let her feel happy again. She was almost past her breaking point, but she was gifted a new strength to rise above these barriers. She was not going to let this destroy her; rather, she was going to let this strengthen her into the inevitable. She got up, seized the day, and never looked back to this dark side. She struck her inner demons significantly, and she was not going to let this get the best of her. She came back from this so greatly that anyone who ever doubted her began to doubt themselves instead.

You are capable of more than you think. You have the ability to find happiness, to be successful, to show anyone who ever doubted you up. You have the power to go as far as you ever have imagined before. No one said it was ever easy, but you have the power to beat your demons. Do not be afraid of what might happen, and start embracing the path you are on right now, the path that is leading to your future success. You will never find the answers you are searching for until you gain the courage to get out there and do it. Do not let people tear you down, and do not tear yourself down. You have the power to do whatever it is that drives you, for this, is the beginning of the rest of your life- start living it. To anyone who ever doubts you, do not let them destroy the passions that you most desire. Do not let them win. They do not want you to become more powerful than themselves. Not everyone is going to agree with the choices you make, but you are the only one who is going to appreciate it completely in the end. If you stay on your own side, then you have already won.

The Life of a Showgirl: When Taylor Swift Lets the Spotlight Dim

While it’s no surprise that we’re big Taylor Swift fans in this household, something about this newest album release felt different. On the eve of the drop, anticipation ran high. Some of us drifted off to sleep with visions of glitter, feathers, and showgirls twirling in our minds. Others fueled up on caffeine, determined to stay awake until the clock struck twelve. And when it did—on October 3—we were ready for it. But this time, I chose sleep. The next morning, headphones in hand, I pressed play as soon as I woke up—and almost immediately, I felt something shift. Taylor’s music has always been deeply relatable—that’s never been in question. The Life of a Showgirl follows the forever-endearing The Tortured Poets Department, an album I adored with every ounce of my being. That record proved what so many of us already knew: Taylor is a poet at large. Naturally, expectations for this new album were sky-high. The Life of a Showgirl promised to peel back the curtain—to reveal life beyond ...

Bride Survival Guide: The Truth About Being a Bride

Congratulations! You're engaged!  Now is supposed to be the happiest time of your life. You get to marry the man or woman you love, plan a giant party (or a small one, if you prefer) with all your close friends and family, and wear the most beautiful gown. If any of these things make you anxious, you are not alone. Many brides feel overwhelmed during their "Engaged Era," and many don't get the support they need when feeling this way.  While this is an exhilarating time, your nerves and anxieties are valid. The second you get that ring on your finger, your personal life and boundaries go right out the door, and everyone wants to know every detail, even some that you haven't even planned out or thought about yet! When is the date? Where did you get your dress? What does it look like? But here's the thing: no one asks how you are doing.  Here is my hot take: society has made weddings so impractical and unreasonable that any bride-to-be feels overwhelmed. Everythi...
